Life is on a Go, Go

June 11, 2010 § 9 Comments

Ever since I woke up at 6:30 this morning, it’s been rush rush rush. Go, go, go.

I rushed to the gym for a 40 min cardio workout on the elliptical and treadmill while watching the morning news.

  • Oil spill…it just breaks my heart to see innocent marine lives being taken away and the beautiful ocean that Mother Nature has so graciously given us being abused.
  • 6 year old girl got ran over by a car of drug dealers running from the police…happened in a residential area, and it was because the chief police told them to chase the drug dealers into residential neighborhoods, at 6pm. Really?! You do realize this is the time when kids are out playing, right?
  • Lakers vs Celtics…apparently Lakers aren’t doing so hot? I don’t really follow basketball.
  • World Cup kicks off…don’t follow that either. But I believe it was South Africa vs. Mexico this morning.
  • Temperatures at mid 70’s for this weekend…booooooo! I want some real So-Cal warmth!

I barely had time to catch my breath, let alone take pictures, while I wolfed down my sammy made on sandwich thins, spread with sunbutter, homemade pumpkin butter, and cottage cheese. I washed it down with Amaretto Teeccino while fervously catching up blogs before heading to work.

From 9am till 2:30pm I was like a busy bee collecting the last drop of nectar and honey before winter sets in.

At long last, I got to settle down for lunch to calm my tummy that had been fidgeting like crazy since 11 am. The LemonZest Luna Bar tided me over for a little while, but hunger once again dominated.

I forked my way through my leftover noodles and tofu from last night, plus some newly steamed asparagus. It quieted my tummy for about 10 minutes. Then I started digging into my stash of Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Pretzel Bar. And then some more of Cocoa-Roasted Almonds (YUM!!!!).

Well, clearly taking pictures of my food wasn’t on my mind today. More about what was going on in the lab that day. Did. not. want. my. experiment. to screw. up.

I almost decided to stay in lab till 7pm, but thought it was not worth it. But that meant I have to go into lab tomorrow in the A.M. So at 6pm, I walked out of the Biology building of our campus and drove a short way with my significant other for this:

Love in a bowl. See? I did take some pictures for ya! πŸ˜€

Salad bowl with black beans, fajita veggies, tomato salsa, corn salsa, and a hunk of the creamiest guacamole. My goal in life is to make the perfect guacamole. Well, okay, one of my goals in life. Anyways, I finally got to sit down for once during the day to eat my meal in peace. No computer screen, no protein names and laboratory protocols buzzing in my head. Just me, my bowl, and my bf :-). What else could I have asked for after a long day?

Oh, and let’s not forget these:

I probably had 2/3 of this bag just munchin’ away while we were at a drive-in theater after dinner. We were planning on watching Karate Kid (Jaden Smith is adooooraabbblleeeee!!!), but was informed it was pretty packed. We ended up watching Get Me to the Greek instead. For only $7 you can watch 2 movies in a row? Score! But my tired body told me it was time to go home at 10:22pm. They were going to show Splice anyways, a horror movie I believe? Not for me thank you very muchΒ  😐

Now that I’m cozied up back in my apartment, I am soooooo ready to be in bed. With that, good night dear readers! I shall see you on the weeeeekennnnnd!!! πŸ˜€

+ Have you been to a drive-in movie theater before? This was actually my first time! I didn’t know there was one sooo close to where I live (about 10 min drive). It was a pretty awesome experience and I will definitely be returning pretty often!

+ What type of movie person are you? Romantic? Drama? Comedy? Chick flicks? Horror? Action/Thriller? Others? I’m usually not a fan of horror movies, but I watch pretty much everything else.

  • I’ve heard about those cocoa almonds from Allie at Live Laugh Eat – she RAVED about them, and so I’ve been excited to see them anywhere ever since! Don’t they taste awesomely chocolatey? I suspect I’d get addicted if I ever found any… πŸ˜›

    1) No, but it sounds really cool! I wouldn’t be able to see much through our car window, though. :S

    2) I don’t like horror movies, either. I like indie films (sometimes I don’t understand them) and also oldies like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Dr Strangelove, etc. πŸ™‚

Oh I’ve always wanted to try those cocoa almonds…I just didn’t have the budget to add them to my addictions! I KNOW I’ll get addicted!

I’ve never been to a drive-in movie…sounds totally cool. I don’t even know any in my area!

I HATE horror movies. Anything gory is NO-NO! I love comedies, light-hearted movies that make me laugh and has a happy ending. πŸ™‚

  • I want a dark choco pretzel bar so bad! And your chipotle looks awesome. I have never been to a drive in but think it would be so much fun on a summer night!

  • Your dinner makes me really wish we had Chipotle in Canada! I LOVE guacamole!

I’ve been to a drive-in once and I fell asleep during the second movie haha. πŸ˜‰ My fave movies are romantic ones and comedies. I like to keep it light!

  • That guac looks AMAZING! The movies I like depend on my mood. In general, you cant go wrong with a comedy in my book. There’s always a little something for everyone πŸ™‚ TAKE CARE, Nora
